Lord Mayor Doris Baumgartl and our Managing Director Adrian Heimerer took advantage of the Bavarian State Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Affairs' Bavaria-wide "At home at home" campaign week to inaugurate the first Landsberg "Ratschbank", in particular to draw attention to the issue of "loneliness".
The "Ratschbank" bench, with a stand-up aid on both sides, is located on the footpath and cycle path between Holzhauser Straße and Ahornallee near Café Freiraum, Pater-Rupert-Mayer-Straße 30. The bench is intended to make it easier to strike up a friendly conversation or two.
Mayor Doris Baumgartl says: "The Ratschbank is an ideal starting point for a nice chat. We hope that it will enable many Landsberg citizens to simply have a good time in their everyday lives. We would like to gradually install a nationwide network of Ratschbanks." Adrian Heimerer emphasised: "We are very happy to be part of this Bavaria-wide project. As we train carers, loneliness is an important issue for us. With the Ratschbank, we can help to strengthen social contacts."
With the Ratschbank, Landsberg's senior citizens' management would like to encourage the town's residents - regardless of their age - to get into conversation with each other in order to have a good time in everyday life in a simple and uncomplicated way. Seniors' manager Bettina Dorr:
"Loneliness is a widespread phenomenon, can affect anyone and has an impact on the body and soul."
