A dream has come true for Tobias Bosse, a graduate of the Erz22 teacher class at the Heimerer Schools in Leipzig.
With the support of our Head of Education, Mr Ronald Gresens, Tobias was given the opportunity to stay with the Ott family in San Francisco.
Tobias goes into raptures when he talks about his host family. "The parents Matt and Annie are the best hosts you can imagine and are extremely enthusiastic about my educational activities and the influence I have on the two boys. Lincoln (brown haired) is now 4 years old and has cerebral palsy, is sort of blind and has a displaced pain tolerance, but he is an ever-cheerful child. He's almost always laughing and even though it's not my speciality, I regularly do physiotherapy and occupational therapy exercises with him. Finn (blond), on the other hand, is a typical 2-year-old child. Sometimes he requires the full educational repertoire that I have to offer. But everything here is great fun."
For Tobias, this stay offers two great opportunities - firstly the chance to gain professional experience as an educator directly in a great family, and secondly the chance to gain this experience abroad. He also had the chance to see Los Angeles, Las Vegas and New Orleans, the Grand Canyon, Yosemite National Park and Disneyland. It's easy to get carried away.
In consultation with his host family, Tobias will therefore stay in San Francisco for another year.
This has all paid off.
Tobias was nominated by his family as Au Pair of the Year and came 3rd. He did not withhold the certificate from us.
We are very happy for Tobias, wish him a wonderful time and look forward to hearing more from him. Many thanks in particular to Ronald Gresens, who has given Tobias valuable support in realising his dream.
