As a masseur and medical bath attendant, you will independently develop individualised therapies for your patients based on a doctor's prescription. This includes various forms of massage, but also baths, packs and inhalations. Organisationally, your field of activity will include keeping your own patient or customer file and billing services to health insurance companies. As part of your training, you will apply massages for prevention and relief or carry out Kneipp treatments. You will also learn about various forms of electrotherapy, thermotherapy and radiotherapy.
Masseurs and medical bath attendants work in rehabilitation clinics, hospitals and health centres. However, wellness hotels, massage practices, spas and saunas also employ masseurs and are a growth area with good career opportunities.
After your training, you can continue your education in your field of work and, for example, learn lymphatic drainage or acupuncture massages or attend further training to become a physiotherapist. Or you can set up your own massage practice or work as a freelance masseur in private households and companies on an outpatient basis.
Do you enjoy working with people, are you in good health and can empathise with other people? Then a job as a masseur and medical bath attendant is the right thing for you!
