Nursing assistant (geriatric care)
Job description
As a care assistant in geriatric nursing, you look after and support elderly people in their daily lives. You will support carers in providing professional care and assist with therapeutic measures. Your area of responsibility includes everything to do with caring for the elderly, from going for walks to dressing and serving meals.
Career prospects
Vocational training as a care assistant offers you a good introduction to all professions in the care sector. Due to increasing life expectancy, you have great future prospects in the care sector.
You can work as a care assistant in inpatient care facilities, in the outpatient care sector and in short-term and day care.
Admission requirements
If you are responsible, creative and socially minded, you are ideally suited to a career in nursing.

- Minimum age 17 years (or sufficient personal maturity for training)

Training structure
The training programme provides you with all the knowledge you need to look after and care for senior citizens. During your training, you will take part in theoretical and practical lessons.

Practical assignments
The practical training takes place in an elderly care facility in close cooperation between the practice centre and the school. There you will learn the various skills that are important for the respective activities and tasks in geriatric care.

Conclusion
After successfully completing the one-year course, you will receive a certificate from the vocational school and will be awarded the professional title "State-recognised nursing assistant (geriatric care )" by the government of Swabia/Upper Bavaria.
Training allowance
Your training company will pay you an appropriate training allowance. This can vary from organisation to organisation. The amount stated is therefore only a guideline and is based on our experience.
