Osteopathy

Osteopathy

Job description

Osteopaths palpate problem areas in the tissue and feel muscles, fascia and internal organs. They release tension and thus activate the body's self-healing powers. Movement disorders or pain can often be treated causally in one or more therapy sessions. It is therefore a holistic form of therapy.

Our scientifically based osteopathy training programme offers you the opportunity to acquire two or four certificates in just four years, depending on your previous knowledge. You will deepen your knowledge of diagnosis, treatment planning and evaluation of treatment success.

After completing the third year of training, you can take the examination for the unrestricted alternative practitioner licence (large alternative practitioner). This is followed in the fourth year by the completion of your osteopathy training with a certificate.

Career prospects

Osteopaths mainly work in their own practices, in doctors' surgeries, health centres or rehabilitation centres.

As an employed osteopath, you can earn between 23.00 and 35.00 euros per hour (gross). Earnings depend on your professional experience and your region. Many osteopaths aspire to self-employment. The cost of osteopathic patient treatment by an alternative practitioner is between 80.00 and 120.00 euros per session. The majority of health insurance companies in Germany subsidise osteopathic treatments.

Admission requirements

Completed training as a physiotherapist, doctor or alternative practitioner.
Additional qualification in manual therapy if required.

Training structure

Two or four qualifications in four years
The training programme comprises 1164 or 1360 teaching units (TU) over four years, some of which are taught online in webinars. This corresponds to approx. 6-10 courses per year, usually from Thursday/Friday to Sunday (modules may also be offered during the week and online units in the evening).
In the case of training with completed manual therapy, 176 units are credited from the manual therapy training, so that 1,350 units have been completed at the end of the training.

The curriculum created by DIGOTOR - Advanced Training is recognised by the health insurance companies. DIGOTOR - Fortbildungen has been offering the scientifically based osteopathy training programme since 2015.
