The profession of physiotherapist opens up a varied and challenging field of activity in which you primarily use movement to support healing processes. In cooperation with the doctor, you will independently decide on forms of therapy and instruct your patients to carry out exercises at home. During your training, you will learn how to work within a complex, interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary patient care environment. As a trained physiotherapist, you will create individual treatment and training plans for patients and carry out evidence-based techniques.
As a physiotherapist, you have very good career prospects thanks to modern medicine's strong focus on healing through movement. The versatility of the profession allows you to pursue an activity according to your interests.
You will find many career opportunities in hospitals, specialist clinics, rehabilitation centres and spa facilities. However, you can also work in the medical practice of an orthopaedist or neurologist or in physiotherapy practices.
After your training, you will have many opportunities to continue your education and specialise. Further training programmes such as manual therapy, manual lymphatic drainage, equipment-assisted physiotherapy or physiotherapy according to Bobath will help you personally! You also have the opportunity to work scientifically as a research consultant or teacher. Of course, you can open your own practice as a self-employed person or pursue various freelance activities.
We will be happy to inform you about other possibilities to credit existing training or partial training and thus shorten the training during a personal interview!
If you have already completed training as a physiotherapist (or similar professions) abroad, you have the option of taking the knowledge test here in our company or starting a shortened/adapted training programme.
Your apprenticeship lasts three years. You will complete theoretical and practical lessons (2,900 hours) as well as practical training (1,600 hours). The average teaching time is 35 - 40 hours per week. Your work placement will take place in various facilities and in different specialisms (orthopaedics, surgery, paediatrics, internal medicine, gynaecology, neurology and psychiatry) and will be organised for you by the school.
